Sprowston Pavillion Playgroup was located at the Pavilion on the Recreation Ground where it had been established for over 20 years. It relocated in January 2013 to the Sprowston Infant school. Although the playgroup is located in the Infant school, it is still an independent Setting and there is no expectation or guarantee that your child will go to Sprowston Infant school from attending our playgroup.

Our aim is to provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment to enable all children to learn and grow to their full potential, within a happy and supportive environment, we aim to provide creative, and age appropriate play and activities to promote the well-being and social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of preschool children.

We will consider each child as an individual and recognise and value the qualities they bring to Sprowston Pavillion Playgroup. In our endeavours to fulfil this commitment to the children we will work fully with their Parents/Carers.

Seven professionally trained permanent members of staff, with a Level four Child care trained Manager and a Level three trained Deputy are employed at the playgroup. All staff attend regular training courses to ensure their knowledge, skills and qualifications are kept up to date. We are all Paediatric First Aid trained.

We are supported by an extensive team of regular helpers and volunteers this is a big part of the playgroup and is very much appreciated. Many of our regular helpers have themselves gone on to do training in childcare and pursued jobs leading on from the work they did with us. We very much value the support and help our parents and carers give us.

The Playgroup has an active committee of Parents who are involved with the day to day running of the playgroup and organise fund raising, outings and extra activities. We have a full set of policies that are available on request.

Sprowston Pavillion Playgroup is run by a Committee made up from parents and carers whose children attend our setting.

We hold our AGM in October/November which is when parents are invited to attend and to listen to the past years events and activities, giving them opportunities to ask questions and to hear what has happened over that time. At the end of the AGM positions are then filled by either re-election or by election of parents and carers who are interested and willing to join us.

The Committee manages the setting and is responsible for employing and managing the staff, reviewing and implementing policies and ensuring finances are audited by an independent accountant so sufficient funds are available to run the Playgroup.

Committee meetings are held every half term to discuss playgroup matters. These are generally during the day whilst the playgroup is open.

A current list of our Committee members is displayed in our cloakroom with photographs to make them easily identifiable to parents and visitors.
